Office boardroom must be special

Office boardroom tables are a subject of much controversy. It is a topic which has without doubt caused many nasty arguments. Why does there seem to be so much passion for boardroom tables within the corporate world?

One might argue that the senior management of a company view boardroom tables as status symbols, which is true to a certain extent. Having a large boardroom table in the office can be seen as an indication of success. There are lots of business experts who feel that a boardroom table is a direct reflection of the company image.

The widespread belief of boardroom tables as long and rectangular can be credited to the film industry. However more recently far more research has been conducted into the psychological effect of the office boardroom.

The boardroom table sends out a strong message to employees and clients, particularly when you consider the amount of crucial decisions are made the table. The effectiveness of a long rectangular boardroom table has undergone major scrutiny. Opponents of the design argue that it only reinforces the position of those sat closest to the individual at the head of the table. For those at the bottom of the table it is extremely hard to get their points across and to be noticed.

Round and oval boardroom tables are much more favorable for discussion and building ideas. These shapes give everybody a point from where they can give their opinion which makes people feel much more empowered and important.

However a boardroom is not just about the table, it is about the atmosphere. The ideal boardroom must have a certain level of formality but also needs to be calming. A boardroom needs to enable individuals to give effective presentations which require up to date communication technology.

Boardroom tables can take up a lot of space so it is vital that you measure the space you have available. From this you can accurately judge how many people can comfortably be seated around the room and therefore how big your boardroom table needs to be. Getting this right is so important because an oversized table will result in a cramped and claustrophobic boardroom. Get one that’s too small and the boardroom will feel empty and underwhelming.

In regards to the material of boardroom tables, that is a separate argument because different materials have different qualities. Some prefer real wood finishes and others prefer glass. This decision depends on the style of office you are in and the surrounding office furniture.

For smaller more medium sized businesses there are top quality boardroom tables for sale which will certainly be appreciated. After all boardroom tables are an investment and for growing businesses they are just as important.
